SH crew has been in East Blue, Grand Line & now in New world. It has been 900+ chapters. But aside from Zoro no one has shown even a speck of interest to become WSS.

Luffy has rivals. He has Blackbeard, Kidd, Law all of them want to become Pirate King. As frustrating has it been to see Oda isn't going to make much of an effort to promote other supernova to become a threat to Luffy in fulfilling his dream he at least has other people who are interested in becoming PK.

But after 904 chapter Oda still hasn't shown anyone who wants to become WSS. I wish Zoro had some rival. Someone he competed with other than Mihawk to become WSS but Oda hasn't shown a single person like that.

Why do you think that is?

Because the story focused on Luffy.

We also didn't see someone like Nami who wants to draw a Worldmap, someone like Sanji who wants to find the Allblue, someone like Chopper who wants to find the medicine to heal all curses or someone like Franky who wants to build a ship that is able to travel around the World.

You can expect every Swordsman dreams of becoming the WSS someday.

Aside from being PK we don't see all that many people wanting a title. It's like asking if no one else aside from Koby wants to a Admiral.

I'm pretty sure Law, Hawkins and pretty much every other fairly strong swordsman want to be the best... they just don't go around yelling about it.

So we’re just going to pretend Kuina doesn’t exist I guess. :camthinking:

Never mind the bit where Mihawk stated that he doesn’t remember the face of every insect he’s crushed, implying that he’s had so many challengers he can’t remember them all. Clearly not a single one of these challengers had any interest in the WSS title ever. Makes sense. :chrisdog:

Being challenged & specifically want to be WSS is different. Luffy can challenge Mihawk but that doesn't mean he wants to be WSS.

World map exists though it isn't as accurate as Nami's will be.

All Blue is considered a myth. Also Jeff also wanted to find all blue.

No one cares about his dream.

No one aside from Luffy has a goal that is reliant on become a strong individual. Being recognized as someone who sits at the top of food chain. Other SH dreams are based on their profession. And before you say it, being a swordsman isn't a job it's fighting style.

Because its a pirate manga no one is getting something from becoming the WSS it doesnt file your stomach or it doesnt make you rich oda makes his manga really realistic in some way

And as our friend above they are not suicuidly they dont want to die because of some meaningless title without any gain

It's a lame title. Who wants to be WSS...when you can be PK instead. Even Law knows he'd rather be PK then being a lonely struggling shichibukai.

I think Oda never put too much thought into this aspect of the story, similar situation with the bounty hunter/bounty system dillema & the "how did the supernovas get their bounties" issue.

Just assume legends challenged Mihawk, got themselves killed offpanel & the strawhats never got to meet any of them cause of various reasons.

Replacing Mihawk just isn't really that interesting. He doesn't have a massive treasure trove we know of.

He doesn't have a harem of beauties or live a particularly interesting life.

PK and finding Raftel are more alluring than replacing the lazy coffin boat sword wielding guy who lives on his castle in the middle of nowhere.

Mihawk occasionally musters himself out of his stupor then goes back to his monkey filled island.

Mihawk fights Vista for a little bit then they both stop.

Mihawk seems bored most of the time.

People are seeking One Piece and hopefully the treasure with it. Pirate King has a much nicer ring to it.

Well, there are plenty that challenge him, as @Den_Den_Mushi mentioned. This means people do have the desire to be the WSS. Unfortunately for them, Mihawk either killed them or left them defeated and humiliated. I guess in essence like Zoro. Only problem is, we don't see all the other characters all the time from around the world.

So, how can we possibly say that no one has that aspiration? Clearly people are challenging him for his title, otherwise why else would you bother challenging him?

No one in One Piece world is crazy as Zoro and Shanks are to dare to spar Mihawk.

That's not true. Vista didn't hesitate to jump into action with Mihawk and those two Okama people who were with Ivankov, who had apparently been bested before, jumped straight into a fight with him. So clearly people are willing to fight him, even after defeat.

True but even Vista was ordered to fight Mihawk, he didn’t seek him out.

Mihawk and Vista even have a friendly chat.

They don't want to die? Mihawk is a legend. You need to be crazy or very motivated to fight him .

First of all Law's ambition wasnt to be PK, he wanted to kill Doflamingo. Second is being WSS is very hard so why not try for the best which is PK instead of WSS. Also there aren't many people that wants to be Admiral or world strongest man.

Well I believe there are other people, stf sure being Pirate King is the ultimate title, but Mihaw lives his live that way because he wants to, I bet that if he wanted to he could have all the luxury he wanted to... weaker characters like Crocodile almost took over a country... It lie saying look at Shanks being a drunk vagabond going from desert island to another desert island, who wants to be yonko? Well dam I would want to be a Yonko because the other Yonko have huge kingdoms for themselves just Shanks chose to live differntly (at leas for now, maybe we find out later that he has some huge base of operations and huge fleet or something like that), same fo mihawk he chose not a life of luxury and fame in the popular sense ....

Btw the real difference is, WSS is not that important or intimidate to the story apart from Zoro wanting to be, so the only aspect of WSS we have to focus on is on Zoro beating Mihawk... not other people wanting the title. While PK is the goal of the story, o everybody who wants it or at least the strongest who wants it needs to be shown...

Because inverse nobody cares about the title. Even vista wasn’t interested in the title he just wanted to test his power against mihawks.

Law hasn’t made any inkling that he cares at all about being the strongest swordsman. Hawkins we don’t even know he is a swordsman yet, or if he cares about it either.

He’s most likely talking on screen not just random throw away statements like mihawk crushing people. Him bring up actually on screen rivalry like luffy & the WG, signals that imo at least.

The story is told from SHs perspective, doesn't mean others don't want to be WSS, par example imagine if you're a Footballer, you don't need to say it, it's obvious every Footballer dreams of being Best Footballer ever, got my point ?!
Every Swordsman wishes to become WSS, it's just that Zoro is the only one who made it his Life Goal to surpass Mihawk.
I'm sure there many others, but no need to talk about them, basically every swordsman Zoro defeats was a rival to him, since Zoro can't reach Mihawk without defeating every Swordsman who comes his way

Shouldn't there be a strong challenger though? Maybe Zoro's Wano opponent will have the same dream.
