Hello, Oro Jackson crew members! Technically we're not late this time. In fact we're ON TIME (only because we were late last time). Unlike past years, @Divvens had given up on Koala making it into the Top 10. He's found a new love, Dadan. This caused a Massive Civil War (over Dadan, yes) in our camp. The War ended when @Divvens hit me on the head so hard that I forgot how to write. That meant @Chris Mic and @Larsi had to take over this year and @Divvens was imprisoned in Wapol's mouth. And so we arrive at the Top 10 Manga Moments of 2018. Obligatory announcement that @Neko still hasn't caught up to One Piece. Yup, she's still stuck in 2017. Kine'mon should be able to help her with that. Here at Oro Jackson, we like to review the previous year to see how far the One Piece story has gone and remind everyone of the amazing events that have happened. We’re sharing the top 10 moments from 2018 (chapters 891 to 928), so let’s go back to the past together (heh) and examine One Piece in 2018! Number 10: Strawhat Troopers The Strawhats were cornered. Big Mom's fleet had pincered them from all sides. With Perospero, Mont'd Or and Oven calling the shots, they were running out of escape options, especially with Luffy incapacitated and Sanji injured. And then the sons and daughters of the sea, the Sun Pirates, rose to action. When Jinbei quit their crew to join the Strawhats, he had expected them to get out of Big Mom's territory and save themselves. But they weren't going to let him go without a proper farewell, of course they weren't! So they hid themselves, using the seas to hide both their position and the Strawhats' position. They put their bodies on the line to protect the Strawhats from Oven's heat. Even Wadatsumi, admitting his wrongs, bore the boiling water, knowing that anything less than sacrifice would get the Strawhats killed. All that, just to say goodbye. "Don't forget, Jinbei! I am your captain now! We will escape but we will wait for you at Wano. You must come! EVEN IF YOU DIE, DON'T DIE!" - Monkey D. Luffy But Jinbei wasn't about to let his friends die. And Luffy, knowing this, let him go with that now iconic line "Even if you die, don't die." Don't fucking die, Jinbei. Number 9: Imu in Reverieland On the surface it was a merry time. We got to see the meeting of several princesses from new and old adventures. Rebecca, Mansherry and Shirahoshi, even Vivi! With them were even more old faces, Dalton and Kureha! We even got to see Wapol being dragged again, just like old times. However, as the new and old met on the ground while beneath the surface darkness spread. ''Isn't it fine to reveal what it is already? Power degrades quickly, anyway... it rots away in no time at all! Fufufufufu!'' -Joker As the scene shifted under the speech of Doflamingo we were shown a shadowy figure strolling through the cold depths of Marie Geoise. Cold winds drifted through the doorway we were greeted with a strange sight, a giant strawhat. What could it mean? We still don't know. Number 8: To The Future Many predicted this several times in the past, at least something along the lines, yet it still felt unreal when it was revealed to us by the scabbard of Oden. ''The truth is we came from the Wano Country of 20 years ago... by travelling forward in time!'' -Kin'emon That it was Lady Toki herself that send Momonosuke was probably not something anyone could have predicted. Sent from the past by his mother, Momonosuke only had a handful or trustworthy protectors to rely on. Now, together with far more at his disposal, the young Lord is back for revenge against the King of Beasts. Number 7: M.O.B. - Men of Blackbeard First of all: ''ZEHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAA!!!'' - Marshal D. Teach NUFF. SAID. Sure, chapter 925 was full of highlights. King and Queen were revealed in a great way, Perona and Mihawk came back, and Moria adds yet another L to his collection. Honestly, he has to be the most unfortunate character in One Piece at this point, I feel bad. Anyway, that is NOT the point. The point is that THE BLACKBEARD PIRATES ARE STACKED!!! Settled in a pirate's paradise, the biggest pirate is reigning here as king. The Blackbeard Pirates killed Absalom, Avalo Pizzaro is back, Shiryu of the Rain is an invisible swordsman, Catarina Devon has a mythical zoan, Blackbeard's bounty exceeds 2 billion and his laugh causes earthquakes! For every Blackbeard fan, this chapter was an absolute treat. There is no better way to describe this chapter than simply spamming #TeamBlackbeard in every conversation relevant, as well as quoting the King of Lightning himself. ALL DAY! EVERY DAY! 24/7! 365! Number 6: Phantom Crew of the Opera I don't need any words. Spoilers of this chapter came out and everyone was in disbelief until the pictures arrived. This shouldn't have been possible, after a long period of craving a cake of the wedding variety, Big Mom is established as the undisputed, reigning, defending, undisputed K W E E N of Totto Land. Her twisted mentality is on full display, it's morbid and scary, yet sweet and risky. She gets what she wants. She imagines a world where everyone is happy. So you better be happy. The insane musical from hell contrasting to our heroes getting destroyed in the meantime is excellent, and in an arc full of musicals, this one takes the cake. Pun unfortunately intended. ''So sweet...and milky. So Velvety...and RISKY.'' - Big Mom For all intents and purposes, Chapter 900 is ''Big Mom: The Chapter''. Truly, a BAD ENDING. (until 901 came around but we don't talk about that) HAHAHAHA! MA MA MA MA MA! Itadakimasu~ Number 5: A Most Wanted Man Oh Luffy. Still dumb as a rock when it comes to these things, huh? ''My Bounty went down... look... it's 150 million...'' - Monkey D. Luffy HE DOESN'T KNOW After the controversial but highly intense Whole Cake Island arc, we were hoping for something crazy to kick off the new portion of One Piece in 2018. And so it was, as the chapter immediately after WCI ended treated us to something insane! The news coos are out and spreading the news around the world! The reverie is soon beginning, so the world is preparing to shift once more! Crocodile, Vivi, the Grand Fleet, the saltiest Capone there can be, Big Mom and Kaido themselves and even Sakazuki take notice of these unprecedented news! How come? LUFFY'S BOUNTY IS 1 BILLION, 500 MILLION!?!? THE FIFTH EMPEROR!?!? EVEN THE SUNNY HAS A FACE FAIL!!!! Bonkers! Luffy has truly become a most wanted man and such a big name contender that Morgans would call him the fifth emperor?! Out with the Yonkou, in with the Gokou? Regardless, Luffy managed to break into Big Mom's territory and make a mess of it, defeating 2 of her Sweet Generals and devising a plot to take her down! Sorry Capone, yoink. THE WHOLE WORLD IS WATCHING NOW! Coby and Helmeppo return, reminding us of the sweet, sweet beginning of a bounty-less Luffy. Coby cheering along, crying as he witnesses just how far that Straw Hat has come since this story kicked off. But of course it's not just them... Shanks is filled with unique excitement, while Blackbeard laughs, knowing it's still too early for our hero. With such an insane hype behind him, these BIG NEWS are sure to follow Luffy and the crew as they adventure onward into the New World! Number 4: Rubber The last quarter of 2017 blessed us with an unexpected fight we didn't see coming! After many sweets and turn, a certain annoyance this world would be better off without *cough Flampe *cough* became the catalyst for Katakuri to reflect on it all, and the sweet-toothed edgelord stabs himself, evening the field between him and his adversary. At long last, the final act begins. ''I... no longer think you're below my level.'' - Charlotte Katakuri What follows after is a fight of insane proportions, featuring exploding arm projectiles, conversations in future tenses, donut transformations, a new Gear 4th form and Kobe Bryant becoming a part of Luffy's moveset! The escalation of this incredible fight had many fans, including us, considering it as perhaps the best fight in One Piece!! And it all ends with the undefeated Katakuri ready to collapse, facing a Luffy who's ready for round... who even keeps count anymore. In front of his determination, the perfect child of the Charlotte Family finally falls. Luffy VS Katakuri was a legendary fight that we will not be forgetting any time soon, and we can all look back to as a highlight of the series. Rubber VS Mochi - WINNER: RUBBER! Number 3: There's Something About Mary Geoise It's hard to know where to start with this one. The community largely holds Chapter 907 as the best chapter of the year. There is no need for fanciness right now, just narrating what happened is enough. First of all, Big Mom and Kaido are possibly going to meet in the Wano Country, a hidden debt between them is revealed, Kizaru asks Sakazuki if he can go to Wano, Garp's title of being the ''Hero'' of the marines is explained and we learn of the legendary ROX, the Empty Throne is revealed, Sterry is an assclown, Shirahoshi is about to be captured by Charlos, CP0 intervenes with Rob Lucci and Kaku in there, Neptune is ready to go in but DONQUIXOTE Myosgard saves the day, and it all FINALLY culminates in this. ''I want to talk about a certain pirate.'' - Shanks As if everything else wasn't enough, Shanks has a secret meeting with the Five Elders! What business could he have with them!? What do they mean about making an exception just for him!? What pirate is he talking about?! Each successive part of this chapter kept increasing the hype, and it escalated fully with Shanks. Add one more to the collection of moments that turned the OP community on its head. Number 2: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly Luffy... just fought Kaido. That happened. This year. He fought Kaido. I mean he got curbstomped. But he tried, I guess? Oh. And Kaido IS A FUCKING DRAGON! A sky-churning, building-leveling, drunk dragon! Of all the mythical zoans that the fanbase predicted for Kaido, Dragon was one of the most exciting choices. However, no one could have expected the sheer size, scale and power of his form. Seemingly spanning an entire town, Kaido appeared in the sky to scold and command Jack to find the Strawhats. "What kind of King did you say you will be...? You brat?!" - Kaido After getting just a rumoured location, Kaido leveled Oden Castle. In response, Luffy hit him with an Elephant Gun and Elephant Gatling to force him into human form again. You'd think Luffy did well, eh? No more Dragon. To be doubly sure, Luffy went Gear 4 Kong Organ on Kaido. What did our Yonkou do? He took it. He took all of it. And then he lay Luffy flat on his back with one move. That's all it took. Ripples of this one-sided bollocking reached the other Strawhats in Wano. And I daresay their reaction was about as legendary as the fight that caused it. Number 1: Game of the Empty Throne Ever since Dressrosa, we've known about a secret in Mariejois. A secret that Doflamingo knows. A secret that he's held over the government's head. This year, that secret sent an assassin to kill him (allegedly). That secret sat on The Empty Throne. That secret now has a name. Imu-sama...the only entity that the Gorosei bow down to. "Imu-sama. We, the Five Elders, are here before you. The Light that needs to be extinguished from history...have you decided who it should be yet? If you have, please tell us their name!" - The Five Elders In a Reverie arc that rocked the fanbase, the reveal of Imu was the absolute climax. This was the one person who could be responsible for EVERYTHING in the One Piece world. Devil Fruits, The Void Century, Raftel, Poneglyphs. The implications and possibilities are ENDLESS! Is he a D, so he knows how dangerous other Ds can be? Why does he have a Straw hat in storage? Is he going to target Vivi at the Reverie? He clearly wants Blackbeard and Luffy dead. How many has Imu extinguished from history? How many more before he's satisfied? We won't know until far further into the series but until then, this single reveal has launched a thousand theories, reinvigorating the fanbase and reminding them of the One Piece lore. --- Double Post Merged, Mar 17, 2019, Original Post Date: Mar 17, 2019 --- Close But No Cigar: 8 Additional Moments That Just Didn't Make The Cut 1.
