3D2Y to 2020 Kiseki” is a collaboration project between Yomiuri Shimbun (one of the national newspapers of Japan) and One Piece to promote the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. The project’s purpose is to support children that are striving to meet their athletic goals and to encourages them to never give up just like Luffy and his crew. The illustration below, recently featured in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, was to commemorate the project.

Starting from July 24th 2018, elementary, junior high, and high school students can submit applications individually or as a team to the Yomiuri Shimbun’s website. Applicants will be selected by the end of 2018 and announced on January 1st 2019. Winners will receive personal assistance with their athletic training to further help them reach their goals before the 2020 Olympics.

All applicants must live in Japan, be under 20 years of age, and have parental consent.

It might mean something to Japanese people familiar with the story. But to the rest of the world, it might be ignored.

I mean, I think it's aimed towards Japanese people. Some kind of sense of pride or something to them.

I doubt that they're going to advertise the story to people outside of Japan during the event(s) [which is one of the top ten that I despise the most, btw].

This is a fantastic idea! I would love to see the results of this, but we probably won't.

its most likely going to be the core 9 strawhats
and if carrot or inbe officially joins (as in accompanies) by 2020 they will be there as well , but its a slight chance

Funny to hear 18-19 year olds need parental consent., i was planning on going to Japan withing a year or so but i'm still a minor over there lol.

Anyways, on-topic this is really cool how they're supporting the kids.

funny thing is that most kids in japan that are 17/18/19 are already either in college, or even in a career such as a band, a seiyuu, actor, etc...

I meant that I hate the Olympics.

But if Jinbe or Carrot (or both) join by 2020, then it's possible they'll be in promotional material.
