No surprise there. The longer it goes on and the more main stream it is, the more people are going to fnd up dropping it because of that reason

Yeah, even though it keeps getting popular, it'll still be niche because of its length.

They do not know what they are missing, but not really surprising.

Bleach, FT and Hajime no Ippo there for logical reasons :-P

It's really sad to see people stop reading because it's going on too long. I still read Detective Conan too!

That is a bit unfortunate, but hopefully once the series ends, people who dropped the series might pick it back up (because that's how curiosity always work).

    Well that's sad

I know plenty of people who still watches JoJo, Berserk or Hajime no Ippo (including me)

I think it has to do with the amount of readers One Piece has. The bigger the number of readers, the more will drop a series at the same 'drop-rate. For example: The average drop rate (=percentage of the fanbase who will stop reading the series) for a good series is 10%
    Series A has 20.000 readers
    Series B has 150.000 readers

Series A loses 2.000 readers while series B loses 15.000 readers, thus B stands (way) higher in a 'stopped reading' list like this than A even though they can hook up the same percentage of people.

One Piece is insanely popular in Japan, More people read it so more people are also going to stop reading it

Sorry that's bulls***. One Piece is getting better and better. I agree with RETRO.

I can understand Detective Conan, it's quite good, but too much Detective Boys crap.

its not too suprising, one piece is so long and requires a lot of commitment to catch up on if you didnt read or watch it from the start. Some of the stuff lower has more volumes as one piece yet people stop reading one piece more than them

Understandable, i gues some will come back to it once some more dozens of chapters will be out, cause not everyone likes to read stories waiting 1-2 weeks for 1 chapter.

    This.
    These numbers actually mean nothing.
A ratio of how many people read it and how many drop it would have some meaningfulness, but this is just natural for the most popular manga of all time.

Interesting ! Personally I prefer long running mangas (or at least above 200 chapters)...so I can pass my time..
The mangas I've read so far r all above 300 chapters...

I saw that a couple of days ago ..

it's weird, there are series longer than one piece and they're not no1n

even with more than one piece's run of 20 years !!

I was actually dying when I first saw this lmao. Makes sense in a way though. People have told me before that they were going to drop it for a while so that they could marathon an arc later on.

It's very easy to explain, actually @poque already did it.
One Piece has by far the most manga fans in Japan (even worldwide), but every single manga has an amount of people that stop reading it at one point. Let's say (numbers are just for explanation) that 1,000,000 people read OP and 300,000 people read manga B. The drop rate for OP shall be 10% and the drop rate for manga B is 20%. In this case, 100,000 people stopped reading OP, but only 60,000 people stopped reading manga B, even if the drop percentage of manga B was much higher.

Conclusion: It's only natural that OP is #1 in this poll, since it's also by far the most read manga in the world. With a huge number of people reading it, there's naturally also a higher number of people dropping it, even if the drop percentage is low.
